Turn YouTube captions into useful text.

Copy, clean, search and export an existing YouTube transcript as TXT, SRT, VTT or Markdown. Free manual tool and Chrome extension.

The free page cleans pasted captions immediately. The Chrome extension adds language selection, timestamp jumps and SRT or VTT export for captions already available on YouTube.

Existing captions only The Chrome extension reads caption tracks already provided by YouTube or the video creator. It does not download video or audio and does not bypass missing captions. Useful exports Keep plain text for notes, timestamped Markdown for references, or SRT and VTT from the extension when subtitle timing matters.

Workflow steps: On YouTube, open Show transcript and copy the available captions. Paste the text here, search it and remove unwanted blank lines. Copy the cleaned transcript or download TXT or Markdown.

Common questions: Can I download a YouTube transcript? Yes when captions are available. The extension exports TXT, SRT, VTT and Markdown; the page exports cleaned pasted text.
